about
Uncertain Sea
The path from then to now
Uncertain Sea is a sound piece designed to be listened to as you walk to the exhibition "Same As It Never Was"
It lasts 22 minutes - approximately the time it takes to walk to Backlit from Nottingham Train Station (or from the Fine Art Department in the Bonnington Building at Nottingham Trent University) and wanders through the last 10 years of Backlit, and the events and galleries that have brought us here.
The walk features conversations with Matthew Chesney and Claire Simpson, two members of the Nottingham art community who were born in the city and, by staying in Nottingham, have been both witnesses and implementors of the changes to the city and it's art scene.
Matthew Chesney is a graduate of Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University and is the director of Backlit Gallery.
Claire Simpson is the Subject Co-ordinator for Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University, and Gallery Co-ordinator for Bonnington Gallery.
WARNING: Contains some adult language.
